Henry Ford's early life
Henry Ford: Age 2 1/2
Henry Ford was born on a farm near Detroit, Michigan on July 30, 1863. He grew up with his parents, William and Mary Ford and his 5 siblings, on a small farm.
At a young age, Ford began showing a dislike in farm-work and an interest in mechanical things.
In 1879 he left home to be an apprentice machinist. By 1891, he had become an engineer at the Edison Illuminating Company. After making enough money, Ford began experimenting with gasoline engines. His first self propelled vehicle was the Ford Quadricycle, which was developed in 1896. Ford then continued to design automobiles. In 1908, he finally developed the Model T, which was the same year he founded the Ford Motor Company.
